OCD FAQ
OCD FAQ
OCD recovery is possible?
Yes. OCD recovery is achievable with a structured process of cognitive restructuring led by the therapist, active participation from the client, and supportive involvement of family members. We use CBT, ERP, and thematic counselling to retrain patterns and reduce symptoms in a time-bound way.
Are online sessions effective for OCD recovery?
Yes, online therapy works very well for most clients at Emotion of Life. Only a few subtypes (for example, chronic contamination OCD or intense checking/re-checking) may need limited onsite support. Typically, not more than ~10% of clients require any onsite sessions.
Can I recover from OCD on my own?
You can try self-work, especially with support from caregivers and family. However, working with an OCD therapist gives you a structured plan, consistent monitoring, and timely course-corrections—greatly improving your chances of steady, sustainable recovery.
How much recovery can I expect in the Emotion of Life program?
You weren’t born with OCD—it’s a learned pattern, which means it can be unlearned. Our OCD Recovery & Cure Program sets a projected timeline based on your severity. Clients who complete their plan and follow-ups consistently achieve full recovery goals as defined in the initial plan.
What if I don’t see results?
Clients who complete the projected number of sessions recover. Typically, online daily-session plans span ~4 months, and onsite intensive care ~4 weeks. You can expect 25%+ improvement within the first month online, or within the first week onsite. Review your progress after ~25% of sessions to see the trend clearly.
What methods do you use for OCD recovery?
Our approach is evidence-based and holistic: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), thematic counselling, and select elements from the gestalt approach. We also address complementary pillars like life philosophy, trauma work, diet & nutrition, guided meditation, and wellness routines—so recovery stays on timeline and lasts.

Can I meet and interact with recovered clients?
Yes. After joining, it is part of our OCD recovery program. Clients with similar OCD issues who have already recovered and reached a cured state will share their experience and act as peer counsellors.
Considering privacy, we do not allow connections before starting the program. Once you join, you will be meeting and connected with 5–10 recovered clients who are willing to guide you.

Do you recommend medication for OCD treatment?
No, we strongly discourage starting or continuing medication for OCD, as it slows down the recovery process.
If a person is not on medication, there is no need to initiate it for our program. If someone joins while on medication, we ensure that by the end of their recovery journey, they can gradually leave medicines—this depends on each person’s resiliency.

I had a bad experience with ERP in the past. How is it different here?
ERP is a beautiful and highly effective approach when done correctly. With proper mental preparation, clients experience ERP as smooth and natural, without distress.
If you were fearful during ERP in the past, it usually means it was not executed in safe hands. At Emotion of Life, ERP is introduced step by step, with preparation, so that clients do not feel fear and recovery progresses without unnecessary discomfort.

How many CBT and ERP sessions might be required for OCD recovery?
There is no fixed rule—it depends on your OCD subtype, severity, learning capacity, family support, and commitment. On average, recovery may require 60 to 120 sessions. Literacy level and IT skills of the client can also influence session needs.

Can I pay the program fees in installments?
No, we only follow a monthly payment system. Reviewing progress too early (in 5–7 days) is unhelpful, so we recommend assessing improvement after 1 month in online mode and after 1 week in onsite mode. By that stage, clients usually achieve at least 25% improvement.
This structure ensures commitment and prevents premature dropouts—since OCD recovery requires investment of time, money, and effort from all sides.

Ocd Recovery Related Frequently Ask Questions
What is the success rate of Emotion of Life’s OCD Recovery Program?
100% success rate if you complete the projected months and sessions without breaks. Most clients recover before their projected timeline as well. Recovery is structured step by step, with each stage resolved before moving forward. In our practice, every client has been able to fully recover.
What is the difference between OCD Recovery and OCD Cure?
OCD recovery means all symptoms are gone and daily life is unaffected by OCD. OCD cure means after recovery is complete, if the client maintains an OCD-free state for at least 6 months under weekly follow-ups, they are declared cured.
What is unique about the Emotion of Life OCD Recovery Program?
We are selective, focus only on OCD, and run daily sessions. The program is 360°—relapse management, emotional and mental health, personality re-training, life philosophy, parenting, and wellness. This depth and structure make it different from generic counselling.
Do you take insurance?
No. We are not empanelled with any insurance company; fees are paid directly by clients.
Is OCD genetic?
OCD is more a learned behaviour than purely genetic. Family environment, parenting style, and peer influence shape thought patterns. In recovery, we focus on unlearning these patterns and rebuilding healthier ones.
Do I have OCD? How do I know for sure?
If you experience repetitive intrusive thoughts or images that cause distress and feel compelled to do rituals (checking, cleaning, confessing, reassurance seeking) that take time or disrupt life, it may indicate OCD. A proper assessment with a trained therapist is the best way to know for sure.
